Internationalt portfolio review for professionelle billedkunstnere bosat i Danmark.
Kunsthal Aarhus, Galleri Image, kunsten.nu og Aarhus Billedkunstcenter afholdt portfolio review, torsdag den 3. oktober 2019 på Godsbanen, 14.00-17.30. Arrangementet var en del af Art Weekend Aarhus 2019.
Netværksmødet gav 24 udvalgte professionelle billedkunstnere en unik mulighed for at netværke med anerkendte internationale og nationale kuratorer. Mødet tog form som en række planlagte en-til-en samtaler á 20 minutter. Hver kunstner mødte 4 af de 12 inviterede kuratorer, der hver mødte 8 kunstnere.
Kristine Kern (Director, Fotografisk Center, København)
Art Historian, mag. art. (minor in philosophy). Since 2011 she has been the director of Fotografisk Center, an art center in Copenhagen specialized in contemporary art photography and other lens based media, especially from the Nordic Region. She has also worked as an art critic and as a lecturer and contributed to a large number of magazines, catalogues and anthologies. Kern has been on the board of the Danish section of AICA and FKD, union of art centers in Denmark. She is currently on the board of the art center DIAS. Kristine Kern is specialized in contemporary photography, video, projection/ installation and art film, but has a broad knowledge of contemporary art. At Fotografisk Center she has been occupied with expanding new notions of photography, creating visual, spatial and thematic encounters between photography, film and other media - focusing on an equal representation of female artists.
Kit Leunbach (Curator Den Frie Udstillingsbygning, Copenhagen)
Masters in visual culture, BA in art history (both from the University of Copenhagen), exhibtion studies at Göteborg University. Kit Leunbach is the head of public relations and the curator at Den Frie Udstillingsbygning. She has also worked as a project coordinator for the Danish Arts Council (architecture and visual arts). Furthermore she has worked with communications at Nikolaj Kunstal and Knud Pedersens Fluxus-archive.
Katrine Stenum Mortensen (Curator, Trapholt, Kolding)
MA in Art History and Curating from University of Birmingham. Katrine Stenum Mortensen is the curator of Trapholt, Museum for Modern Art and Design. She is also the co-founder of the curatorial collective Room7 in Birmingham. Katrine Stenum Mortensen also researches in contemporary art and has an interest in affect theory. She is the curator of the exhibition SENSE ME which will open in September.
Julie Horne Møller (Curator Horsens Kunstmuseum)
Master in Art History, curator at Horsens Museum. Her main curatorial interests are contemporary art and performance. Julie Horne Møller has also participated in ISCP (International Studio and curatorial program) in Brooklyn in 2018 where she curated a performance program at ISCP’s summer open house.
Eirin Galaasen Bergum (Curator, Brandts – Museum for arts & visual culture, Odense)
Eirin Galaasen Bergum has a MA in art history from Aarhus University, she is currently a curator at Brandts.
Haeju Kim (Deputy Director, Art Sonje Center, Sydkorea)
Haeju Kim is a curator and writer based in Seoul, South Korea. Since 2017, she has been working as the deputy director at Art Sonje Center, a contemporary art museum in Seoul. After completing the curatorial training program in Ecole du Magasin (Grenoble, France), she worked as an assistant curator at Nam June Paik Art Center and a researcher at the National Theater Company of Korea. Mainly interested in performance and works related to the body, memories, she curated Decisive Moments (Arco Arts Archive, Seoul, 2015), Moving / Image (Seoul,2016, 2017), and also conducted research and exhibitions for the Asia Culture Center’s performing art archive. She also curated exhibitions such as Once Is Not Enough(AVP, Seoul, 2014), Memorial Park (Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2013), and Theater of Sands (Culture Station 284, Seoul, 2012) among others. More recently, she curated group exhibition The Island of the Colorblind, Point Counter Point and the solo exhibitions of Lee Kit and Donghee Koo at Art Sonje Center.
Matteo Lucchetti (Chief curator of the Visible project (Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto/Fondazione Zegna), Brussels)
He is the chief curator of the Visible project (Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto/Fondazione Zegna) a research and biennial award for socially engaged artistic practices in a global context. His main curatorial interests are focused on artistic practices that claim to redefine the role of art and the artist in society.
Nicola Trezzi (Director and chief curator, Center for Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv, Israel)
From 2007 to 2014 he was US editor at Flash Art International and from 2014 to 2017 he was head of the MFA program at Bezalel Academy of Art Jerusalem. Since 2017 he is director of CCA Tel Aviv and over the last ten years he has organised and co-organised exhibitions at CCA in Warsaw, HVCCA in Peekskill (NY), Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Art+Text Budapest, MNAC in Bucharest, and BUILDING in Milan.
Kati Kivinen (Chief curator, KIASMA, Helsinki, Finland)
MA in Art History in 2000 and PhD in Art History in 2014, both from the University of Helsinki. Kati Kivinen has been working as Chief Curator for Collections at the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma since 2017. Before taking up this position, she was Curator for Temporary Exhibitions also at Kiasma (2003-2017). Previously, she has worked as Artistic Director of AV-arkki, the Distribution Centre for Finnish Media Art (2009–2010) and as Coordinator for the Finnish Fund for Art Exchange FRAME (2000–2003). From 2011 to 2017, Kivinen was a board member of IKT - International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art.
Jadwiga Charzynska (Director, LAZNIA - Center of Contemporary Art, Gdansk, Polen)
Jadwiga Charzynska obtained the MFA degree at the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts of the State College of Visual Arts (PWSSP) in Gdańsk in 1994. Since 2004 she has been director of LAZNIA Centre for Contemporary Art. Earlier she worked in the National Museum in Gdańsk. She started her career as manager during her studies, organizing art projects, which subsequently allowed her to obtain an extra degree in culture management. Her most important long-term program initiatives at the LAZNIA are: Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdańsk (launched in 2005) and Art+Science Meeting (in close cooperation with Ryszard W. Kluszczyński; launched in 2011) – the program which introduced to Polish audience the works of such artists as Stelarc, duo Oron Catz & Ionat Zurr or Masaki Fuijhata). In 2008 she obtained the Award of the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk in category Culture. In the same year, along with the entire LAZNIA team, Charzyńska obtained the Bronze Medal “Merit to Culture Gloria Artis”, awarded by Minister of Culture and National Heritage. In 2015 she received a special award from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in recognition of “inestimable merits for Polish culture”. He publishes in artistic magazines and publications edited by ŁAŹNIA.
Irina Chmyreva (curator, researcher and co-founder and artistic director of PhotoVisa International Festival of Photography (which is PhotoVisa Biennial since 2018))
(b.1974) she is theoretician and historian of fine arts. Curator of photographic and contemporary art exhibitions. Academician on visual studies. She is leading researcher and member of Commission of Art Education at the Research Institute of Theory and History of Fine Arts of the Russian Academy of Arts. Since 2014, she has been a guest professor at the Istituto Europeo di Design, Madrid, in the Master of Photography program. She is member of the all-Russian non-governmental organization Association of Art Historians (AIS), of Oracle, the International Association of Photography Curators and the International Association of Art Critics (AICA). Since 2008 she is co-founder and artistic director of PhotoVisa International Festival of Photography (which is PhotoVisa Biennial since 2018), Russia.
