Netværksmøde 3. juni 2014 for udvalgte, lokale samt internationale kunstnere og kuratorer

Aarhus Billedkunstcenter arrangerer løbende netværksmøder med kunstnere/kuratorer fra Aarhus og internationale kunstnere/kuratorer som gæster byen. Formålet er at styrke kunstscenen og den internationale udveksling. Lige nu er fotografen Mimi Cherono Ng’ok fra Kenya, forfatteren Omid Shams Gakieh fra Iran, Gadiel "Dady" Chavana fra Mozambique og Tei Huagie fra Ghana i Aarhus. Også Lise Autogena gæster Aarhus med en række kunstnere og forskere fra Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University. Network Meeting (In English)
Aarhus Center for Visual Art (Aabkc), Galleri Image and Godsbanen invite both local and international Artists and Curators for a Network meeting on June 3th, where we provide an opportunity for local artists/curators as well as international artists/curators to meet. This time we have invited:

MIMI CHERONO NG'OK:
Mimi Cherono Ng’ok (b. 1983) is a young Kenyan photographer who lives and works in Nairobi. Educated from the University of Cape Town in 2006 she has a number of exhibition and projects behind her. Despite her young age her photographic journey has to this day taken her far. From studies in Cape Town, to residencies in Accra, Brazil and Berlin to exhibitions in Italy and Mozambique. She’s been trotting the globe with a camera on her shoulder. However far, she has always been returning to Kenya, although coming home has not always been easy. After many years in South Africa returning to Nairobi left her with a feeling of displacement, but also gave her the unique opportunity of exploring places and spaces anew, which is reflected in some of her work. Galleri Image and Sigrids Stue invited Mimi to make an art project in Gellerup and introduce her to the Danish Art scene. Mimi Cherono is also right now participating in the Dak´ Art Biennale.

OMID SHAMS GAKIEH:
Omid Shams Gakieh is an author, literary critic and performance artist from Iran. He holds an MA in American Studies from the University of Torino, Italy and has published several books, which include poems, novels, and translations of prominent American and European authors into Farsi. He has been co-editor of literary magazines, including Zendeh Rood, Bidaar and Dastoor.
He is also one of the founders of Guerrilla Theatre, a radical form of political street theatre, in Iran. During a decade he founded several underground guerrilla theatre groups, wrote and translated various essays on this topic and held guerrilla theatre workshops in various cities of Iran.
His work is mostly focused on post-modernist literature, Avant-garde movements of sixties and seventies, philosophy of Anarchism and Autonomism, Post-structuralist Feminism, political theatre and performance art.
After experiencing threats and assaults from authorities in Iran as a result of his critical writings and involvement in the human rights activism he fled his home country for Europe. He is now the ICORN guest writer in the city of Aarhus. He is working on various projects such as a conceptual sculpture called the Tree of Locks of Hair, an anthology of the Iranian post-modernist poetry and a book on Politics of Literature.


Also Gadiel "Dady" Chavana from Mozambique and Tei Huagie from Ghana are in Aarhus and take  part in City Sleep-ins “Colours of Africa”. They will make art/decorations at City Sleep-in, at Institute X and at Gøglerskolen. Supported by CKU.

The Danish artist Lise Autogena – based in UK - is also visiting Aarhus together with a group of artists and lecturer in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University.
